SSYC Juniors Retain Barclay Cup Team Race Title in 2008
August 15 - Beach Haven, NJ - SSYC Junior sailors recently raced in the 2008 Barclay Cup team race regatta at Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club. This event, founded to promote and advance interclub loyalty, is the oldest active sailing trophy in New Jersey and the trophy again returned to SSYC this month for the second consecutive year. Surf City Jr. Commodore's Regatta
July 3 - Surf City, NJ - Meanwhile, as a group of young SSYC sailors showed the burgee at Pine Beach our Optimist and C-420 Race Teams traveled to Exit 63 to attend the 2008 Jr. Commodore's Regatta at Surf City. The Commodore was there and after a "light" 15+ knot breeze managed to breeze up some more, things got interesting and the waves got rolling. The committee got five races off but not everyone got away unscathed with many a "mudhead" returning to the dock after the races. However, spirits were high because "surfing the waves is a blast" as one SSYC sailor noted.
