Commodore's Message

behalf of the members, board members and flag officers, we welcome
you to the Shrewsbury Sailing & Yacht Club (SSYC) website.
Since the club's inception in 1936, the SSYC membership has maintained a wonderful legacy, consistent with the spirit of our founding members from the time they charted our organization's course. We remain to this day a group of congenial people who are interested in boats, sailing, cruising and racing as evidenced by our broad participation and continued success on a club and regional level, in national class regattas and at U.S. Sailing championship events.
We continue to encourage and preserve the arts of sailing and navigation, while furnishing instruction to our members. Our phenomenally successful junior sailing program, expanded adult sailing instruction and casual week night races all speak to our understanding that to appreciate and grow our sport, solid instruction is invaluable.
As a volunteer organization, the credit goes directly to our members, who through hard work and dedication make SSYC a unique, friendly and sailing focused club it remains today.
As we proudly complete our 75th year celebration we simulateously look forward to the next quarter century. My personal welcome is extended to anyone that wants to participate in sailing.
