SSYC 2011 Junior Sailing Program
Greetings from the Junior Program Chair
Dear Parents and Sailors,
At the Shrewsbury Sailing & Yacht Club we pride ourselves on quality sailing instruction. For over fifty years, we have been teaching children to enjoy this lifelong sport. Our goal is to teach your beginner sailor the fundamentals of sailing and to have an enjoyable experience for the summer. At the same time, those with more experience can benefit from our extremely experienced staff, both in advanced sailing and racing. If your child has never sailed before, we will make their first experience enjoyable and safe. If your child is a competitive racing sailor, we will challenge them to improve. If your child is somewhere in between, we have a place for them.
SSYC's Junior Program is run by volunteers and the Junior Program is dependent on the efforts of parent volunteers. If you have any interest in helping, please do not hesitate to contact the Junior Program Chair.
2012 Mini-Camp Session
Mini-Camp Session; June 20 to June 24: Our extremely popular 5-day camp introduces novices to sailing in a fun and non-threatening manner. It is open to beginners, ages 8 and up, with no more than 2 years of lessons and is available mornings or afternoons. It concludes with a barbecue on Friday, June 24, at 6:00pm where sailors can show off their new skills! Sailors may choose to take this camp alone or continue through one of our summer sessions.
